Regarding potato production, research has been conducted at multiple Mid-Michigan Agronomy sites to evaluate the use of Plen-T Sweet, a readily available source of carbon designed to nourish microbial populations and improve plant health. Replicated research with the Manistee variety was done to compare Plen-T Sweet and various fungicide treatments. The overall goal of the research was to determine the net return on investment of the application of products at different rates and timing.
Over the four years of research, results have consistently demonstrated that Plen-T Sweet can provide a benefit to Michigan potato growers. A greater overall net return was achieved with the use of Plen-T Sweet through improved plant health and yield quality.
